This is accomplished by distributing the PV panels and BS units to the consumers as virtual resources in proportion to their contributions towards the total investment cost. The proposed problem facilitates peer-peer energy trading and two-way energy trading with the grid operator.
Consumers make investments in rooftop PV panels and BS only when they foresee a significant reduction in their annual energy consumption costs. The annual energy consumption cost can be further reduced through energy trading (e.g., any excess PV generation can be sold to those who have a power deficit).
Using the virtual PV panels, the share in the randomly harvested PV generation for each consumer is determined. A consumer can use its share of PV generation for self-consumption, store it into its virtual BS units for later use or sell it.
The jointly purchased PV panels and BS units are partitioned and assigned uniquely to the consumers as virtual PV panels and virtual BS units, respectively. Using the virtual PV panels, the share in the randomly harvested PV generation for each consumer is determined.
With technological advancement, solar panels have become more reliable and cost-effective. Solar PV system for rural electrification in developing countries is explained briefly in
