On 1 August 2025, Poland implemented a series of changes to its electricity grid connection procedures. These measures, proposed by the Transmission System Operator (TSO), address mounting inefficiencies in the current process, which has become strained due to a surge in applications and the evolving needs of Poland's energy sector.
The electricity transmission network in Poland is managed by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne SA (PSE), which is the sole transmission system operator (TSO) in the country.
Poland is undergoing an ambitious energy transition, aligning with broader European goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and substantially increase the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in its national energy mix. A main aspect of this shift involves modernising and expanding its electricity transmission and distribution networks.
Large system-born energy storage: Initiating programs aimed at energy storage, primarily hydrogen-based, corresponding to grid capacity. To unlock the full potential of renewables, Poland must invest in its power grid. An estimated EUR 25 billion upgrade is needed to accommodate the transition.
The basis for the sustainable development of the national economy is to provide the necessary amount of electricity to all consumers. We are committed to ensuring that the transmission system provides
